Lots of authors would answer that question lots of different ways. I can only speak for myself.
I’ve been writing sexy stories since I was 14, and have read about anyth I could get my hands on. When a friend of mine started self-publishing I realized that there was not only an outlet for my smutty imagination, there was also a complete publishing revolution in the works. Authors now don’t have to write to please an agent or whatever the genre-du-jour is currently in favor with a Big Five Publisher. I can write a book, decide on my own cover, hire my own editor, and have it live in a very short period of time. I don’t have to worry about my books having their front covers pulled off or going out of print, because digital books don’t die. I can update and improve my books, interact with my readers on a one-to-one basis, and teach myself about writing as I go.
Where else can you do that?
And to answer your questions….
Yes, I do write in other genres.
Yes, I am private about this pen name. Even my family doesn’t know it, and I don’t really want it to be a topic of conversation around the holiday table.
And Yes, I write it because I enjoy it.
I wish you all freedom and hope in your artistic and business endeavors! Thank you for your support, reviews and feedback. They mean the world to me.
